Powerball Review: A Cool Training Tool for Cricketers

The Powerball is a unique piece of training equipment that is often sold as a toy due to the pure addictiveness of it, although it was originally designed to build strength and help people recover from injuries. The Powerball is actually a 'precision crafted gyroscope' that allows it to rotate up to and over 15,000rpm with minimal vibrations, it is the most perfectly balanced hand gyroscope you can get! It works by you rotating your wrist and building up the speed of the rotor. The faster you get the rotor spinning, the more resistance it brings to your fingers, hands, wrists, forearms and shoulder, the stronger you are, the faster you can get it spinning!

Using it for just a few minutes a day will help strengthen your hands, wrists, arms and shoulders; this is where it comes in extraordinarily handy for cricketers.

Firstly, the extra strength that it gives you, particularly in the forearms will provide you with extra hitting power, it really strengthens your arms and quickly, it may just give you the extra power you require to hit the ball those extra few yards to hit that six, or beat the fielder! Furthermore the Powerball helps improve co-ordination; this is obviously key in a game like cricket and may help lead to improved timing of the ball.

As a bowler, the extra strength you will gain, most notably in the wrist will help work wonders for you, as a spinner the extra strength and power will really help you whip the ball out the hand, generating those extra revolutions and getting that all important spin. As a pace bowler, this extra strength will allow you to flick your wrist through the ball with more power, helping to generate more pace through your action, this is an obvious benefit.

Again, in the field this will help aid your game, firstly, the extra strength this will provide will help you generate more power with your throwing and with practise, and this can be transformed into powerful accurate throwing. The improved co-ordination you will get from using the Powerball will also help aid other parts of your game, e.g. catching and general fielding.

The Powerball will help your game, in my opinion, it is an awesome cricket training tool, all you need is a few minutes each day, you won't be disappointed.
